Tyson Fury Says He Feels ‘Sorry’ for Anthony Joshua After Dubois Loss, Calls Bout ‘Depressing’

After his shocking loss to Daniel Dubois last month, Tyson Fury has stated that he feels “sorry” for Anthony Joshua.

When Joshua faced his fellow Brit at Wembley on September 21, he was hoping to win the title three times, but he was beaten in the first round and was unable to bounce back.

Tyson Fury (pictured) has claimed he feels ‘sorry’ for Anthony Joshua on the back of his defeat by Daniel Dubois

The former Olympian is currently attempting to salvage what remains of his career at the highest level of the sport by pursuing a rematch after the outcome put his future in doubt.

Even though he has five losses on his record, he still has possibilities if he is unable to get a second fight against Dubois, such as a possible matchup with Fury.

Additionally, Fury, who was ringside for the fight and has never met Joshua despite the two frequently sparring, has expressed his sadness for his opponent following his defeat.

Joshua suffered the fifth loss of his career at Wembley last month when he went down to Dubois

The former world champion was rocked in the opening round and failed to recover before being knocked out in the fifth

‘I feel sorry for him at the minute because he has been cleaned out in his last fight in round five,’ Fury told Sky Sports. ‘So he’s going to have to do that again, or not.

‘After every loss I’ve felt a bit down, deflated, because when he loses and it’s not to you, you do feel down and depressed about it. I felt sad for him.

‘I was probably the only person ringside on my side of the ring that was sad. It’s sad to see.’

The two have reportedly been on the verge of fighting several times, and Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has stated that a fight might ultimately happen based on how Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk turns out.

Fury will face the Ukrainian again in December and is in dire need of a victory after losing to Usyk earlier this year for the first time in his career. He hasn’t, however, ruled out a subsequent altercation with Joshua.

‘Yeah, I will (fight him),’ he said. ‘Whether he’s got five losses, 10 losses or 20 is not important. Because at this stage of our careers, it’s about having good fights and putting good fights on for the paying customer.

‘I still think it would be an entertaining and interesting fight for the paying pundit.’

Fury was ringside on the night and said the result of the fight ‘depressed’ him as he watched on

Joshua’s career is now in limbo with it unclear who he will face next, though Fury appeared to be an option

First, though, the Gypsy King will take on Oleksandr Usyk (left) in a rematch of their fight from earlier this year

He doesn’t seem to have any plans to do that any time soon, though, due to his confidence at getting a result in two months’ time.

‘I wouldn’t rather fight any of them (Joshua or Dubois),’ he added. ‘I would like to have a trilogy with Usyk.

‘Because then it will be 1-1 so we’d have to do a rubber match and I’ll be the only heavyweight to have three trilogies, which would be quite impressive.’
