As he now considers a bout with Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua has cast doubt on his rematch with Daniel Dubois.

On his route to a devastating fifth-round knockout loss at Wembley in September, AJ was down FOUR times.

He was also anticipated to rematch Dubois in an attempt to exact revenge; the fight was previously scheduled for February in Saudi Arabia. However, his promoter Eddie Hearn disclosed that the rematch faces the KO since the turnaround appears to be too close.

Hearn stated to BBC Sport: “AJ is fervently seeking retribution; the timing is the only problem.

“Training camp must begin in a few weeks in order for the rematch to take place in February.

“There are always niggles and he had a few so physically it’s just a case of whether AJ is ready to do that.”

After losing their May undisputed title fight, 36-year-old Fury will rematch with 37-year-old Oleksandr Usyk on December 21. However, as Dubois was promoted from interim champion, he inherited the IBF title, forcing Usyk to give it up in order to make his comeback. Instead of rematching with Dubois, Joshua, 34, might now sit and wait to fight Fury as he plans a May comeback.

Hearn added: “It would be frustrating if we made the Dubois rematch and Fury won.

“Then we’re sitting there going ‘hang on a minute, we’re fighting Dubois but we could have fought Fury in May for the biggest fight in boxing.’

“Win or lose, we can fight Fury next summer. But if he wins, AJ fights him for the world title.”
