There’s been much talk surrounding Russell Wilson being the stepdad to Future Zahir Wilburn, the five year old son of his wife Ciara and her ex Future.
Over the last few years, some on social media have praised Wilson for being a great father figure to Future Zahir, and people recently conveyed the same thing when the NFL quarterback shared a video of Future scoring a goal on the soccer field.
The little guy looked pretty impressive too, because he first faked right and continued left before placing the ball squarely in the net.
Ciara can be heard laughing and screaming in the clip that was posted on Saturday. Then the camera shifts, and you can see Wilson looking like an extremely proud papa.
Then after the clip was shared, people commented about how supportive the Seattle Seahawks QB is of Future Zahir, and how he seems to always be in his corner.
Plus, many referred to Wilson as Future Zahir’s “father,” and they didn’t put the word “step” in front of it.
“It is football season and he still there with his son supporting him at his games … I mean he is really a devoted parent … he truly loves his son,” wrote someone on Instagram.
“You’re a great father Papa Russ!” another person commented.
“He is a winner like his father Russell,” someone else weighed in.
During an interview in January of this year, Future said that despite what many think, he’s happy that his boy has a pro athlete to teach him football. But at the same time, he blasted Wilson for posting photos of his son online.
“You already been around my kid when y’all start going together, when y’all posted the first picture and you haven’t even talked to me,” Future said then. “And when y’all get married, she was like ‘I want you to meet Russell now.’ Y’all already did all the damage. I don’t want to meet him now.”
Wilson never responded to the “Mask Off” artist, and he’s been seemingly focused on his NFL job, as well as family. The quarterback and Ciara also have a 2-year-old daughter named Sienna Princess Wilson.
