‘My Brother Won’t Be Intimidated by AJ!’ — Caroline Dubois Ready for Taylor Clash

Caroline Dubois, the 23-year-old IBO world champion, is gearing up for a highly anticipated fight this weekend, where she aims to showcase her s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s and secure a pathway towards a title clash with Katie Taylor. Speaking with IBO’s Aaan Khan, Dubois expressed her eagerness to fight after a challenging period of back-to-back training camps, which included a setback due to illness that forced her to withdraw from a previous bout.

As an avid reader, Dubois shared her love for literature, highlighting Paulo Coelho’s “The Alchemist” and Andre Ward’s autobiography as influential reads. She believes that her journey in boxing is just beginning, and while she contemplates the idea of writing her own story in the future, her focus remains firmly on her career and the lessons she aims to impart to future generations.

In preparation for her upcoming fight, Dubois prefers not to overanalyze her opponent’s past performances. Instead, she concentrates on her own strengths, knowing her opponent will bring high intensity and pressure. Reflecting on her previous fights, she feels she has yet to fully showcase her capabilities, but is optimistic about delivering an explosive performance in the ring.

Dubois also touched on the excitement surrounding the heavyweight division, particularly her brother Daniel Dubois’ pursuit of a title against Anthony Joshua. She believes it’s crucial for fighters to maintain confidence, regardless of their opponent’s stature. The sibling rivalry, however, is not a competition in her eyes; they are both navigating their unique paths in the sport.

As for her aspirations, Dubois is looking forward to facing Katie Taylor, with discussions already underway between their teams regarding a potential fight. She hopes that Taylor, who has been inactive for over a year, is held to her commitments of either defending her title or vacating it, allowing the next generation of fighters to shine.

In addition to her own ambitions, Dubois expressed admiration for fellow fighters, including Clarissa Shields, who continues to collect titles and elevate women’s boxing. She is hopeful for the success of Team GB at the upcoming Olympics, despite the fierce competition they face.

Looking ahead, Dubois aims to fight two more times by the end of the year, demonstrating her commitment to making a significant impact in the sport. With a strong performance this weekend, she hopes to solidify her position for a future title shot and continue her journey toward greatness in boxing.
