Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a tough loss on Saturday against their AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, 34-17.
Wilson’s wife, Ciara, was not able to make the trip to Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium to support her husband. The multi-Grammy Award-winning singer had to do her cheering remotely for the Steelers’ Week 16 matchup.
This was also the case for the “1, 2 Step” singer when she rallied behind her close friend La La Anthony from afar.
Anthony, the ex-wife of NBA legend and potential soon-to-be Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, recently received a significant tribute in New York City. A street was named after the 42-year-old in the city — LaLa Anthony Lane — to honor her tireless work with incarcerated youth via her La La Land Foundation.
According to their website, the non-profit’s “ThreeSixty” program “is an initiative at Rikers Island, providing mentorship and life coaching, legal services, and re-entry tools, to young men ages 18–21 years old who are incarcerated.”
Ciara caught wind of Anthony’s great feat and she just had to flex her good friend’s achievement. Ciara also sent a “proud” message to Anthony via Instagram.
“Proud of you @lala 👏 👏 👏 Oh you know we pullin up,” Ciara wrote.
Anthony showed some love back to Ciara by sharing the post on her own Instagram Stories. She responded, “Yesssss!!!!!!!!”
Ciara and Anthony have been friends for years and have been very supportive of each other’s endeavors. For this round, it’s Ciara who is showing her unwavering support to one of her best friends as Anthony receives a tremendous honor from the city of New York.
While Ciara was unable to attend the ceremony, she did promise that she would someday “pull up” to La La Anthony Lane.
As for Ciara’s husband, Wilson and the Steelers are back in action on Dec. 25. They host the two-time defending champs Kansas City Chiefs at Acrisure Stadium, which should give Ciara and her kids the chance to cheer on Dad in person in this highly anticipated Christmas Day clash.
