In an interview with Bustle, the R&B hitmaker also opened up about turning up the “𝓈ℯ𝓍y” in their relationship

Ciara is opening up about her date nights with Russell Wilson.

In an interview with Bustle on Thursday, Feb. 13, the “1, 2 Step” hitmaker discussed her relationship with her NFL player husband, 36.

“You need to still turn up the 𝓈ℯ𝓍y,” Ciara, 39, told the outlet. “He walks through the door, and I’m like, ‘OK!’ Because he intentionally went in to go get 𝓈ℯ𝓍ier, to get cute. For me, the same thing.”

While she noted that sometimes it’s “a lot with four kids and doing everything else,” she feels “good” when she makes an “effort” to dress up.

“He sees it,” Ciara said.

The couple also are intentional about having date nights regularly.

“I’m really looking forward to just being with him, talking about life, looking into each other’s eyes, holding each other’s hands, doing all those things that you do in the beginning,” she said. “Search for the beginning at all points as best as you can, because we know what that feels like in the beginning — there’s this excitement.”

The “Goodies” performer also credited her husband for being a great communicator.

“It’s the quarterback in him,” Ciara said.” He’s so used to having to do that anyway. It’s a big part of his everyday life.”

She added, “I love communicating. Sometimes you got to say the ugly before you get to the pretty.”

Ciara and Wilson met in 2015 and tied the knot in 2016. They share four kids.

Before meeting the Steelers quarterback, the “Body Party” singer was already a mom to Future Zahir, 10, from her previous engagement to rapper Future.

Wilson and Ciara welcomed their eldest daughter, Sienna Princess, 7, in 2017.

Ciara then gave birth to son Win Harrison, 4, in 2020, and daughter Amora Princess in December 2023.

In a March 2022 interview with PEOPLE, the pair revealed they embraced the chaos of their full house, calling it “non-stop entertainment.”

“These kids are funny. Our kids are really hilarious, and obviously the older they get, the more they think they know,” Ciara said at the time.

She also noted that it’s “been amazing to see all the kids interact with each other,” but that it can quickly become a “WWE match situation” in her house.

“They love each other so much, and then they also have what I call a love-fight relationship,” Ciara said. “They love to fight, but then they love each other so much at the same time, and Russ gets in the mix sometimes.”
