‘I love that my child is wild!’ Serena Williams gushes about her ‘curious’ daughter Olympia, revealing how proud she is that the 19-month-old ‘wants to explore’ now she is walking

Serena Williams has revealed that her 19-month-old daughter, Olympia, is already a bit of a wild child as she nears the terrible twos, but she doesn’t think it is a bad thing.

The 37-year-old tennis star opened up about her little girl during an appearance on the Third Hour of Today on Wednesday morning, explaining that the word ‘wild’ has a positive connotation for her.

‘I love that my child is wild,’ she said. ‘I love that, because for me it’s a different word — wild is great. Why is wild a bad thing? She is curious. She has fun. She is learning different things. So, for me, I love that she wants to explore and just kind of wants to be herself.’

Serena recently partnered with Pampers to help launch its new Cruisers 360 FIT diapers, and as part of the new ad campaign, she is encouraging parents to embrace their wild children.

On the day of her Today show appearance, the mother-of-one took to Instagram to share the new video she and her daughter filmed for the brand.

In the heartwarming clip, Olympia is running around in her Pampers diaper, almost rolling over mom’s toes with one of her toys.

‘When Olympia started moving, life changed completely,’ Serena tells the camera. ‘You just never know what your 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 is gonna do next. I love considering her a wild child, because her mom is the same way.’

At one point, Serena and her daughter are wearing matching tutus as they play together in her office.

‘I would say to parents of a wild child: instead of worrying, embrace it and make the most of it,’ the mom says at the end of the clip.

Serena told Today show hosts Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin that once Olympia got moving, she couldn’t be stopped.

‘She kind of skipped crawling,’ she explained. ‘I mean, she crawled, but not long, maybe of couple days. Then I was at Wimbledon and then she went straight to walking, and I was so sad because I was like, “Oh, I missed her,’ she recalled, but fans told her not to sweat it.

During the interview, Dylan couldn’t help but ask what is going on with Olympia’s beloved doll Qai Qai, who has become an Instagram star in her own right with more than 123,000 followers.

Photos of Qai Qai show the doll holding Serena’s tennis balls, going through airport security, and having meetings with Gayle King in New York.

‘We have a lot of fun things coming up for Qai Qai, which we’re really excited about,’ Serena explained. ‘She’s cool. She helps me with my tennis. She carries my balls. She goes through security sometimes. She was injured for a while. She got better.’
