Hello neighbor! ‘Three’s Company’ premiered on Mar. 15, 1977 and made instant stars of leads John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt, and Suzanne Somers. The show, which was actually based on the British sitcom ‘Man About the House’, followed three roommates living in a Santa Monica, Calif. apartment all trying to navigate their constant misunderstandings, dramatic social lives, and financial struggles.

The show was popular during its run, among the top 10 TV shows of its time. Suzanne quit the show in 1980 and was replaced by Jenilee Harrison, who was later replaced by Priscilla Barnes. Additionally, the show spawned the spin-offs ‘The Ropers’ and ‘Three’s a Crowd’. Since going off the air, ‘Three’s Company’ has still remained popular in syndication.

John Ritter played Jack Tripper, a clumsy culinary student and later chef, then restaurant owner from San Diego. John received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for the role in 1984. The actor had a long career that included over 100 films and television series credits. He passed away Sep. 11, 2004 at age 54.

Joyce DeWitt played as Janet Wood, a down-to-earth, level-headed woman from Speedway, Indiana, who is an aspiring dancer and currently works at the Arcade Flower Shop. She took a break from acting after the show wrapped in 1984 and has since enjoyed several stage parts.

Suzanne Somers played ditzy, 𝓈ℯ𝓍y secretary Chrissy Snow during seasons 1 through 5. She left the show in 1984 after salary negotiations went south. She went on to become spokeswoman for the Thighmaster and appeared on the series ‘step By Step’ in the 90s.

Norman Fell played overprotective landlord Stanley Roper in seasons 1 through 3, then returned for season 5. He enjoyed his own spin-off ‘The Ropers’ in 1979 and 1980. He passed away December 14, 1998 at at 74.

Audra Lindley played the feisty Helen Roper, Stanley’s 𝓈ℯ𝓍-starved, muumuu-wearing wife. She passed away from complications from leukemia on October 16, 1997 at age 79.

Don Knotts appeared in season 4 through 8 as the trio’s goofy yet friendly, flamboyantly dressed landlord and apartment manager post-Ropers. He fancies himself a ladies’ man, but was a bit of a cheapskate. Don was widely known for his role as Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife on ‘The Andy Griffith Show’, earning five Emmy Awards for the role. He passed away in 2006 at age 1981.

Richard Kline played Larry Dallas, Jack’s best friend who was a lothario and used car salesman. He went on to play Richie in the later seasons of ‘It’s a Living’ and Jeff Beznick in ‘Noah Knows Best’. His most recent role was on TV’s ‘The Resident’.

Ann Wedgeworth appeared in seaosn 3 of the show as neighbor Lana Shields. The Mrs. Robinson-inspired character pursued Jack and was, in turn, pursued by Mr. Furley. The Tony-winning actress passed away on Nov. 16, 2017.

10 of 11 Jenilee Harrison

Jenilee Harrison was the first to step in after Suzanne’s departure, playing her accident-prone cousin Cindy Snow in seasons 5 and 6. She went on to play Jamie Ewing Barnes in ‘Dallas’ from 1984 to 1986. Her last role was in 2002’s ‘Power’.

11 of 11 Priscilla Barnes

Last to move into the house was Priscilla Barnes. She played Terri Alden on seasons 6 through 8. The character was an intelligent but lovelorn registered nurse from Longmeadow, Massachusetts.

Barnes also has appeared in the films ‘A Vacation in Hell’ (1979), ‘Licence to Kill’ (1989), ‘Stepfather III’ (1992), ‘The Crossing Guard’ (1995), ‘Mallrats’ (1995), ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ (2005), and ‘The Visitation’ (2006). From 2014 to 2019, Barnes played Magda Andel in the CW comedy-drama series, ‘Jane the Virgin’.
