On March 27 KST, BIGHIT MUSIC officially announced that both Suga and fellow BTS member j-hope donated 100 million KRW each (approximately $68,200 USD) to support recovery efforts following the devastating wildfires in South Korea’s Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions. These fires have been labeled among the most severe in the nation’s history.
Suga directed his donation to the Korean Red Cross, with funds allocated to provide food, water, and daily necessities for residents affected by the wildfires. This marks a continuation of his charitable efforts Suga previously donated ₩100 million in 2022 to assist victims of wildfires in Uljin and Samcheok.
Meanwhile, j-hope made his contribution through the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. His donation will support emergency aid, help rebuild local communities, and provide assistance to disaster-vulnerable individuals. j-hope’s philanthropic track record includes support for flood victims in 2023 and donations for the families of the Jeju Air Flight 2216 crash victims.
In a joint message released by BIGHIT MUSIC, Suga and j-hope expressed their heartfelt hopes for recovery, saying, “We hope the ongoing wildfires are extinguished as soon as possible. Our thoughts are with those who have lost their homes and those working tirelessly to contain the fires. We hope this donation offers even a small measure of comfort and hope.”
Fans around the world were moved by the members’ quiet yet meaningful return to the public sphere. Though Suga has remained out of the spotlight due to his military service and his drunk-driving controversy, his continued support for those in need reinforces the group’s long-standing commitment to social good.
Since 2017, BTS has consistently used their platform to make a positive impact through various charitable acts. Even in absence, their influence remains steady guided by compassion, unity, and responsibility.
