Attorney Defends Authenticity of Kim Sae-ron’s Chat Logs

On March 28, CBS NoCut News raised questions about whether the chat logs presented by Kim Sae-ron’s family during their press conference—intended to support claims of her past romantic relationship with actor Kim Soo-hyun while she was still a minor—were obtained through forensic analysis or had been altered.

In response, Boo Ji-seok, the family’s legal representative, asserted, “The original files undeniably exist, but given the potential for legal action, revealing them is a delicate issue.”

Regarding messages between Kim Sae-ron and her aunt, he further clarified, “The messages were reconstructed without altering a single word. Nothing was toned down.”

However, he refrained from confirming whether these were forensic data, saying, “It is difficult to comment on that at this stage.”

Despite these claims, concerns over the legal validity and authenticity of the evidence have been raised, as the messages were not presented as original screenshots but as reconstructed texts. Critics argue that this makes independent verification impossible.

Authenticity of Kim Sae-ron’s Alleged Chat Logs Questioned

A day earlier, represented by attorney Boo Ji-seok, the family released reconstructed KakaoTalk messages and a handwritten letter, stating their intent to “put an end to the speculation and protect Kim Sae-ron’s dignity.”

Among the materials shared were digitally recreated chat logs allegedly from June 24–26, 2016—when Kim Sae-ron was 15 years old (international age). These reconstructions included messages in which Kim Soo-hyun reportedly wrote, “Isn’t this just too cute?” in response to a photo, and responded to a heart emoji from Kim with “Do it for real next time.” Other messages read, “When can I fall asleep holding you?” and “That would be the best sleep ever.”

Attorney Boo emphasized that these were reconstructions for privacy reasons but stressed that the original data exists. “This is not fabricated or stitched together. We’ve only redacted private details,” he explained.

Despite the serious claims, the evidence’s legal validity remains uncertain. The messages shown were reconstructed, not original screenshots, so it is impossible to confirm their authenticity. Additionally, the timeline of certain photos including one of Kim Soo-hyun allegedly washing dishes in Kim Sae-ron’s home has not been verified.

As a result, critics have raised concerns about the authenticity and legal value of such materials, questioning whether they definitively prove a romantic relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron when she was underage.
