Kim Soo Hyun’s Press Conference Sparks Debate: Why No Questions Allowed?

On March 31, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency Gold Medalist informed the press, “Please understand in advance that there will be no separate Q&A session other than expressing his position.”

However, given the wave of allegations surrounding Kim Soo Hyun related to the late Kim Sae Ron, many are skeptical whether a press conference without any Q&A can truly resolve the public’s suspicions.

In the entertainment industry, emergency press conferences are often held during major incidents or scandals. However, holding one without a Q&A session is unusual. Before Kim Soo Hyun, singers Jung Joon Young and Park Yoochun held press conferences without taking any questions.

In Jung Joon Young’s case, after being accused in 2016 of illegally filming women’s bodies, he held a press conference where he denied the allegations and issued an apology. However, citing the ongoing investigation, he did not take any questions from the media. Although he was later cleared of those charges, Jung Joon Young was revealed to be a key figure in the 2019 Burning Sun scandal and was ultimately prosecuted and expelled from the entertainment industry.

Park Yoochun held a press conference in 2019 to deny drug use rumors. At the time, after being identified as the “Celebrity A” involved in drug use rumors, he appeared before the media and declared “I have never used drugs”, but did not accept any questions from reporters. His statement was later proven false, and police investigations confirmed his drug use. He faced legal consequences and was widely criticized for holding a “deceitful press conference”.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun’s emergency press conference is scheduled to take place at 4:30 PM on March 31 at a location in Seoul. He will be accompanied by lawyer Kim Jong Bok from the law firm LKB & Partners.
