Iowa Hawkeyes basketball star Caitlin Clark has spurred a lot of interest in the women’s game, and her past has been dredged up countless times to examine just when she turned into a superstar.
Caitlin Clark attended Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, but who is her mother, Anne Nizzi-Clark, who has regularly appeared courtside to cheer on her superstar daughter?
Who is Anne Nizzi-Clark?
Caitlin Clark is the daughter of Brent Clark and Anne Nizzi-Clark. Nizzi-Clark is the daughter of former longtime Dowling Catholic coach Bob Nizzi.
She graduated from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, with a degree in English and has worked as a marketer for Delta Dental of Iowa, according to details on her LinkedIn page.
Caitlin Clark’s mother now directs strategic partnerships for CC22 Ventures LLC, which manages the various NIL deals the popular Iowa Hawkeyes star has signed.
According to Nizzi-Clark’s LinkedIn profile, she was the vice president of product marketing at American Enterprise Group Inc.
In an interview with OurQuadCities, she detailed how proud she was of her daughter’s basketball career and her impact on women’s basketball.
“It’s quite amazing. Honestly, it’s just been a fabulous journey thus far and super proud of her,” Nizzi-Clark said.
“When you see all these people here after being here last year — how much it’s grown and the respect and the attention, the women’s game is gaining.
It just puts it in perspective for you. That’s really how lucky we are. And what a big dream this is for her.”
Getting to know the “Caitlin Clark family”
Brent Clark, Caitlin’s father, played college baseball and basketball at Simpson College. He graduated with a degree in international management, business sales and marketing.
He is the Vice President of Concentric International, a company manufacturing construction equipment.
Brent recently talked to KRGC about his daughter.
“I see a lot of myself in Caitlin in terms of passion for the game,” he said. “The games where the stakes are high is really nervous for me, but I am trying to work on being more supportive and positive. She will look at the stands ever so often and I try to give her some reassurance. I do the best that I can.”
Caitlin’s older brother, Blake Clark, was an engineering major and played football for the Iowa State Cyclones as a quarterback.
Her younger brother, Colin Clark, also played basketball at Dowling Catholic and graduated in February.
It is clear that Caitlin Clark comes from athletic stock, and she is fully capitalizing on her background to break all the records on her way to superstardom.

Caitlin Clark breaks Pete Maravich’s all-time scoring record: Iowa star makes history in win over Ohio State
Iowa basketball superstar Caitlin Clark on Sunday became the NCAA’s overall career leader in points.
In her 130th game, with her 3,668th point, Clark passed former LSU star “Pistol” Pete Maravich, who scored 3,667 in 83 games from 1967-1970 at LSU.It was only a matter of time.
Iowa’s Caitlin Clark passed Pete Maravich for the NCAA’s all-time scoring record in both men’s and women’s college basketball after a flurry of 3-pointers to start the Hawkeyes’ game against Ohio State.
The record-breaking points came from the free-throw line just before the end of the second quarter as the Iowa star calmly sunk two from the stripe to pen her name in history.
Clark entered her final collegiate regular season game needing 18 points to pass Maravich. She averaged a career-high 32.2 points per game to stay on pace for the record largely viewed as untouchable over the past 54 years.
She didn’t let up after hitting the mark but did cool off a bit, finishing the game with 35 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds in a 93-83 win over No. 2 Ohio State.
The prodigious shooter previously broke the NCAA women’s scoring record on Feb. 15. On Thursday, she passed Lynette Woodard’s forgotten scoring mark in a standout triple-double effort. And now she’s the all-time scoring champ for both men’s and women’s basketball.

The 22-year-old is taking women’s basketball to new heights and is slowly solidifying her stature as a college and future WNBA star.
Caitlin Clark has been a star performer for the Iowa Hawkeyes since joining them as a freshman back in 2020. Being a hometown talent, she’s spent her whole life in the state of Iowa and showcased exceptional talent in basketball right from her high school days.
Here’s a closer look at Clark’s childhood and the place she grew up.
Caitlin Clark’s childhood and hometown
Caitlin Clark was born on Jan. 22, 2002, to parents Brent and Annie Nizzi Clark. She was born in West Des Moines, a two-hour drive from the University of Iowa.

Since her childhood, Clark was an athletic kid who played various sports including softball, basketball, soccer, tennis and others.
But in the end, she loved the game of basketball the most and started playing in boys’ recreational leagues as her father could not find a girls league for her age group.
When Clark was in sixth grade, she joined All Iowa Attack which was an Amateur Athletic Union basketball program based out of Ames, Iowa.
She then attended Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines where she played varsity basketball for four years. During this stint, Caitlin Clark went on to develop her talents and started making a name for herself.
During her high school career, Clark won several awards and accolades for her performances. She was honored as Iowa’s Gatorade Player of the Year for her incredible junior season.
