Anthony Joshua Teases Next Bout, Embraces Mystery Opponent

Anthony Joshua is teasing a quick comeback after a destruction job on Francis Ngannou.

Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has teased his next fight fuelling speculation suggesting it could occur much sooner than anticipated.

Joshua, who has seen a resurgence in his career over the past year, is poised to step back into the ring despite initial expectations of a longer hiatus. Following a tumultuous period in 2021 and 2022, which saw him lose his titles to the undefeated Oleksandr Usyk and subsequently fail to reclaim them in a rematch, Joshua has diligently worked his way back to form.

His recent string of victories includes a points triumph over Jermaine Frankin in April, a knockout performance against Robert Helenius in August, a technical stoppage of Otto Wallin in December, and a stunning knockout of Francis Ngannou in March.

While many anticipated Joshua would await the outcome of the Tyson Fury vs. Usyk bout scheduled for May 18, or potentially vie for the IBF belt against Fillip Hrgovic afterward, the British boxer has thrown a curveball by accepting an undisclosed opponent for his next challenge.

“Incoming call from 2258mgt

AJ: How can I help

@258mgt: they want you to fight X

.

As Joshua gears up for his next bout, speculation is rife about who his opponent might be. Whether it’s a rematch against Joseph Parker, whom he defeated on points in 2018, or a fresh face such as Filip Hrgovic, Deontay Wilder, or Zhang Zhilei, Joshua appears open to any challenge.

With his career now closer to its twilight than its dawn, Joshua seems more determined than ever to stay active in the ring. He has stated that his aim is to become a three-time heavyweight world champion. Having fought three times in 2023, he aims to maintain a similar pace in 2024, highlighting the allure of consistent competition and the desire to cement his legacy further.

Joshua has entered his prime, showing his old offensive abilities with better defense than ever before. He has found success with Tyson Fury’s former coach Ben Davidson after travelling around the world working with Mexican and American coaches.
