Scheana and Brock Reveal the Struggles Behind Their Fiery Financial Clashes

As Scheana Shay explained on Season 11, Episode 13 of Vanderpump Rules, she and her husband, Brock Davies, had been “at each other’s throats lately.”

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

While much of their tension stemmed from disagreements over hiring a nanny, the couple was also working through financial issues — namely, Brock struggling with Scheana bringing in the majority of their combined income.

Brock Davies on Scheana Shay being “the breadwinner” in their family

“I think it adds so much tension to Scheana and I because, like, she’s providing for the whole family. She’s the main breadwinner,” Brock explained to a friend during the episode, which aired on April 23.

“That’s probably the minor of it,” he continued. “I think the biggest [issue] is since we sold the gyms … it’s been different. We’re no longer hustling, working out asses off. .. The hardest part is knowing that I’m not bringing home the money anymore. ..I ‘m not living up to the standard that I set for myself.”

What does Brock Davies do for a living?

In an episode interview, Brock shared details on his career path.

“Growing up, I thought I was going to be a farmer,” he said. “Then, from being a dairy farmer, I ended up getting a job playing rugby, and then from rugby, it was always eyes on the horizon.”

However, he clarified, “It’s not for the fact that I’m not happy where I’m at. It’s just finding a career just gives me more of a purpose. I want to improve my life, for myself, for everybody.”

In the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 After Show  video above, Brock shared that he is working toward a career in “TV, production, [and] movies.” According to Scheana, “He has two shows that he’s developing right now.”

Scheana Shay explains how finances have impacted her marriage to Brock

During the Vanderpump Rules episode, Scheana explained to Brittany Cartwright how grateful she is that Brock is able to be at home with their daughter, Summer Moon.

“Brock, he’s just always doing so much to help me,” she said. “Maybe he feels like I don’t appreciate it at times because he’s not bringing in a huge income.”

When Brittany asked if the fact that Scheana is “the breadwinner” had been “really hard” for the couple, Scheana responded, “I think for him, yeah. Totally.”

Brittany could relate, telling Scheana, “I know whenever me and Jax [Taylor] were going through that, where I was making more money for once, I could tell that was a shift for him, and we were fighting a lot because of that alone.”

Scheana agreed, saying, “I think that’s probably what it is [for us] too.”

“I feel like there are these standards that men and women feel like they have to meet,” Scheana said in an episode interview. “Like, why can’t he be the stay-at-home dad? Why can’t the women go out and make the money? It’s like this misogynistic old appeal of how it should be when, no, it should just be however it f-cking works for you.”

Do Scheana and Brock have a prenup?

Yes. During the episode, Scheana shared her feelings about her prenup with Brock.

“When I made the decision to marry Brock, I was like, ‘This is my person for life… But in the off chance that, you know, sh-t hits the fan, we got the prenup,” she said in an interview. “So I was smart this time around, but I honestly don’t even know where it is because I don’t think we’ll ever need to look at it.”

Although Brock seemed frustrated by his career in the moment, Scheana is more than happy about their current arrangement.

“If all of a sudden he had a 40-to-60 hour work week and was traveling for work all of the time, no, I actually don’t want that,” Scheana says in the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 After Show video above. “I love that we’re able to work together so much.”

Additionally, she clarifies a misconception about her husband.

“People seem to think he is this terrible person who is just living off of me,” Scheana says. “He is the hardest worker out of any person I have ever been with in my life. He does so much. He is so ambitious. He is so driven … Support comes in more ways than just financial.”
