Blake Lively has launched a new cocktail range, but some of her followers have accused the actress of ‘doing it for the money’ after being vocal about not drinking
Blake Lively has faced a barrage of criticism after launching a brand new alcohol brand, despite being vocal about her sobriety.
The 35-year-old actress took to Instagram on Thursday to announce the release of her cocktail brand Betty Booze as she shared several pictures of herself serving the drinks.
“Drinking isn’t my thing. But for f* sake, flavor is. Homemade recipes. Real fruit. Real ingredients. Quality booze. No crap. Also a real time saver. Which is why I really did it,” she captioned the post.
While Blake seemed to be very proud of her new venture, some of her followers accused her of “doing it for the money”.
“If drinking really isn’t your thing (which you’re very vocal about) how about some NA options? Otherwise you’re just in it for the money,” one critic commented.

Another said: “How can you market/create a product you don’t openly consume yourself? come the f on now,” while a third person wrote: “It’s so lame when celebrities who don’t drink suddenly promote alcohol.”
“Nah you did it for the money, honey,” one accuser added.
However, plenty of Blake’s fans jumped to her defence, with one writing: “The ridiculousness of these comments. It’s a drink, get over it or go try it, either way keep it classy.”
Another person said: “A good business person sees a gap in the market and fills it. They don’t have to be a consumer of your own product to stand behind its quality.

“She’s putting her name on this product and risking her reputation. That’s a good business woman.”
A third fan added: “I don’t know why this upsets people, I have sober friends & family and you can buy the line without alcohol.
“If everybody here being righteous actually doesn’t drink and is offended then you need a meeting. If you do drink, you’re just being catty. Blake Lively is doing her thing and she can’t be responsible for all of our lifestyle choices.”
Blake has been very open about her sober lifestyle, telling Allure: “It’s not like I decided on these strict lifestyle choices and I’m enforcing them.
“It’s just something that I genuinely don’t have a desire for.”
