Anthony Joshua claims he ‘should be WBC heavyweight champion of the world’ after his stunning victory over Francis Ngannou… as ‘AJ’ claims ex-UFC star BEAT title holder Tyson Fury when they fought back in October

The British heavyweight star needed just two rounds to end the fight with the former UFC champion after landing a huge right-hook during the main event.

Joshua had sent Ngannou tumbling to the canvas once in the first-round before doing so twice more in the second – with the third knockdown proving crucial.

Afterwards, during his post-fight press conference, Joshua suggested he should now claim the WBC title and reflected on Ngannou’s previous fight with Tyson Fury.

Joshua said: ‘Francis Ngannou beat the WBC heavyweight champion of the world. I should be WBC heavyweight champion of the world right now! He’s a great fighter’.

Joshua produced a stunning knockout victory against Francis Ngannou within two rounds

The ‘Knockout Chaos’ main event was Ngannou’s second ever boxing fight, having also fallen to a decision defeat to Fury when they met back in October last year.

Many, including Joshua, believed that Ngannou had won the bout after sending the ‘Gypsy King’ crashing to the canvas with a stunning knockdown.

Meanwhile, following ‘AJ’s victory, Eddie Hearn called on Fury to defeat Oleksandr Usyk to set up an the long-awaited clash between him and Joshua.

Speaking following the fight Matchroom chairman Hearn proclaimed Joshua the number one heavyweight in boxing.

‘I’m so proud of him because there was a huge amount of pressure.’ Hearn said on DAZN.

‘If we won this fight then he would fight the winner of Fury v Usyk. You’re looking at the number one heavyweight in the world.

‘Tyson Fury please beat Usyk because you will get the biggest fight in the history of the sport. As a fighter, he’s an inspiration to young people.

‘What I said would happen, happened. He destroyed Francis Ngannou. He’s a beast and I cannot wait for him to beat Tyson Fury.’

Fury said it will be ‘a different game’ if he eventually fights Joshua in an all-British showdown

Fury was present on the night to witness Joshua’s KO and, shortly afterwards, reflected on his own performance against Ngannou.

The Gypsy King explained that he produced a ‘s*** performance’ against Ngannou and warned Joshua he won’t let his standards drop again if they fight in all-British heavyweight showdown.

Commenting on Joshua’s victory, Fury told DAZN: ‘I’m sure Oleksandr Usyk will have something to say something about that.

‘I had a s*** performance against Ngannou. AJ did absolutely fantastic and lit him up with a right hand’.
