Shocking Casting Scoop: Giancarlo Esposito from The Boys Enters Marvel Universe in Captain America 4.

Giancarlo Esposito, the actor of The Boys, has scored a mystery part in Captain America: Brave New World.

The actor, who portrays Stan Edgar on Prime Video’s superhero drama, will reportedly join the cast of the fourth film in the Captain America franchise, with The Hollywood Reporter reporting that he will play an unknown villain.

According to insiders, filming is currently underway in Atlanta, with Esposito scheduled to remain on site for the next 22 days. Details on the film’s premise are scant, with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) taking over Captain America from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).

Esposito, who also starred as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, had previously teased the prospect of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealing in 2022 that he had spoken with executives about a role.

“[I’ve] not worked for Marvel yet. I’ve been in a room with them and talked to them,” he said, before adding that the superhero series reflects the “dream and intention to save the world and environment”, with the aim being to “uplift” people.

Whilst we have to wait to see who Esposito will be playing in Captain America: Brave New World, the star will appear in the upcoming fourth season of The Boys, which is due to premiere on Prime Video next month (June 13).

The upcoming batch of episodes was recently teased by Erin Moriarty, with the Annie January/Starlight actor saying: “Every season, we go a little bit deeper with each character.

“The characters… that you thought would be villains, you start to learn a little bit more about them that perhaps makes you feel, not that they’re good guys, but that there are always gonna be details that you can never anticipate, that prevent you from putting that character in a box.”
