50 Cent Shares His Thoughts on the Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne Super Bowl Debate.

50 Cent, like many others in the Hip Hop space, has shared his opinion about the controversy surrounding next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.

On September 8, the league partnered with Apple Music and JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation to announce that Kendrick Lamar has been confirmed to headline the Halftime Show at Super Bowl LIX, which is set to take place on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Speaking to the hosts of The Talk on Friday (September 13), Fif offered his thoughts on the selection, which many felt was a slight to NOLA native Lil Wayne.

“I mean, it was a choice. I think Kendrick deserves [it]. As a solo artist right now, he’s the guy,” he said.

The G-Unit boss was also asked his thoughts on Kendrick’s ongoing feud with Drake, which he believes was “good for the culture.”

“Both Drake and Kendrick produced quality music faster because they had to compete with each other,” 50 Cent said. “That competitive nature made them go work and have responses. Hip Hop is still — it’s not just a genre where you can just make a song and sit back. You have to make a song and be ready to make a song again right away with other artists.”

50 cent expresses that as a solo artist Kendrick Lamar deserves to perform at Superbowl LIX in New Orleans and explains why the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake beef was good for the culture.

Ironically, 50 Cent was recently named as a potential headliner for an event that gained notoriety for all the wrong reasons.

The Queens, NY native has been eyed to headline the next Fyre Fest by the event’s founder and convicted felon Billy McFarland, who thinks Fif might be able to deliver where Ja Rule fell short.

The beleaguered event, which is set to return on April 25, 2025 in Mexico is reportedly looking for a new spokesperson.

TMZ caught up with McFarland on Friday (September 13) and asked him about the state of the event. He offered a few details about the location — a remote island off Mexico’s Caribbean coast; what attendees can expect this go around; and the fact that the number of ticket requests has already far exceeded the locale’s 3,000-person capacity.

He explained: “Next week’s problem is booking the talent. We really wanna make sure it’s across all genres, so some electronic, some hip-hop, some rap, and of course the pop and the rock. We’re working through it now.”

McFarland was asked about Ja Rule, and he said: “I’m actually gonna try to call 50 Cent later today and come and see if he’ll headline Sunday night … We gotta give 50 Cent the spot so he can do what Ja Rule never could.”

However, the disgraced promoter stopped short of explaining exactly what he expected from the G-Unit boss.
