Anthony Joshua has accused fighters of going to Saudi Arabia for ‘pantomime’ wwe

ANTHONY JOSHUA would give WWE an X-rated response if the wrestling “pantomime” asked him to follow Tyson Fury and stage a scripted fight.

Britain’s former heavyweight champ has banked a string of mega-money deals and sponsorships on the back of his in-ring power.

But AJ, 30, insists he would never follow the lead of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and the Gypsy King, who pocketed £12million for grappling 28st Braun Strowman in Saudi Arabia last month.

He snubbed psychological help to deal with his shock June loss to Andy Ruiz, and said he had “not became a p***y overnight”.

The rematch with the Mexican is on December 7.

But Joshua would never entertain playing a part in WWE — as he fears it would hit his reputation as a fighting man.

He said: “We were talking about the WWE but when we go to Saudi, we go to Saudi for our respective crafts.

“Other people go to Saudi for a pantomime. They know they can’t call me up to come and do wrestling.“They call me up to do boxing and that’s all I want, my respect in boxing.

“It’s hard to get respect in boxing, especially as a UK fighter. I do feel like we don’t get the respect we deserve.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn chipped in: “I’d love to put that phone call to him.

“The answer would be so quick: ‘’F*** off’.”

AJ wants his critics to bow down and grovel at his feet if he beats Ruiz in the specially-built Diriyah Arena.

As well as wrestling his belts back, Joshua wants to reclaim top spot ahead of Fury and WBC champ Deontay Wilder.

He added: “Before Ruiz, people were always asking me ‘do you think you’ll be in the No 1 position if you win your next fight?’

“It was clear to see, I was the man at the table with three of the four belts and I was still debating where my position was in the heavyweight division.

“Compared to the guys everyone is praising today, I just never really looked at it and understood why they would get all the credit after having such a long career and so many fights under the radar.

“If you take me out of this seat and I was the next heavyweight coming up — like Joe Joyce or Daniel Dubois — I’d be looking at what we achieved.

“And I’d be thinking ‘f*****g hell, they’re a force to be reckoned with. I have to respect these guys.’”
