“The View” stars tell NFL fans to ‘shut up’ over blaming Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce underperforming: ‘Blaming a woman for a man’

Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Joy Behar went in on football fans accusing Swift of distracting Kelce. “I’m blaming MAGA,” Goldberg said.

The View cohosts think select NFL fans are too uptight over the recent underperformance of the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg introduced a Hot Topics conversation Tuesday morning regarding the team’s fans blaming pop superstar Taylor Swift for boyfriend Travis Kelce’s “slow start this season,” even though the team is currently undefeated three games into their schedule.

Goldberg highlighted online pushback that accused Swift of “taking his mind off the game,” despite, as the Oscar-winning star said, they “apparently forgot that they won the Super Bowl [this] year” with Swift in attendance.

“Is she supposed to play the game, too?” panelist Sunny Hostin asked, turning to her cohosts for input.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, the show’s lone conservative cohost and self-proclaimed Swiftie, added that she thought 𝓈ℯ𝓍ism was at play.

“As I understand it, football is a team sport. Just because he’s not making touchdowns doesn’t mean he’s not contributing to the success of the team. They’re currently undefeated this season,” Griffin said. “Once again, just the classic blaming a woman for a man.”

Goldberg had a more clear-cut estimation: “I’m blaming MAGA,” she said, invoking Swift’s recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election. “I think it’s them, because they’re mad because [Swift] is not supporting You-Know-Who. They’re putting all of this out there.”

Joy Behar estimated that, if that’s true, “They need to watch that, because they’re losing the women’s vote as it is,” before urging men “to step up” their rhetoric.

“I also love that we’re acting like Taylor Swift is a Magic 8 ball or a monkey foot,” Griffin added. “She can’t magically affect his game. The thing I do love about this relationship and why I root for it, they support each other.”

Goldberg threw the show to a commercial with one final, stern message for those criticizing Swift: “Grow up, y’all,” she said, looking to the camera. “Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well. Shut up!”

Swift has long shown her support for Kelce, regularly attending his games last season, and making headlines when she approached the field and kissed him after his team won the Super Bowl earlier this year. In turn, Kelce was spotted in attendance at Swift’s concerts in recent months.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.
