Angel Reese is a “girl’s girl”! Although the Chicago Sky rookie’s season ended early with playoff dreams dashed, she’s still excited about the way women’s basketball is climbing up. At the deciding Game 5 of New York Liberty vs.
Minnesota Lynx on Sunday night, Reese witnessed the home team take the victory in a special outfit supporting both sides, or rather, the founders of Unrivaled. But maybe she’s made her choice between the two!
Taking to X just now, the Bayou Barbie posted, “I’m a girls girl. In the clurbbbb, we ALL FAM! Congrats to New York Liberty!!” Then, she addressed the unprecedented W season that was 2024: “This year of women’s basketball was legendary & I’m so glad to be apart of it!”
But perhaps, most excitingly, Angel Reese has declared her intentions for January, as she wrote, “Come out & support us again in January in Miami for the @Unrivaledwbb league!! All of your faves together in the yamssss🤪”
Reese’s wrist injury, which took her out of the last six Sky games, was severe enough to warrant surgery.
While it was not confirmed whether she would heal in time for Unrivaled, the suspense has been dispelled!
The rookie had said in August that being in Miami from Jan to March and not playing overseas was a big win, in addition to improving her individual s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s with the 3-on-3 format.
And getting to know the W’s star players will be a plus point.
The two business partners that just had some of the biggest games of their career, aka Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, will meet again in January after the feelings of disappointment on one side and utter joy on the other have settled down.
The Lynx had the chance to bring a record-breaking 5th Finals championship to the franchise. But for the Liberty, it was a first.
While Barclays Center was roaring for their home team after their win, Angel Reese also caught eyes on the sidelines. On Friday, she had posted on X, “who can make me a half stewie half phee jersey by SUNDAY????” Per Xavier Sanchez, designer Jocelyn Hu helped out Reese for the dual jersey in time.
After the game was over, Reese celebrated with the Liberty’s stars of the night too!
Not Stewie and Phee, but the MVP and an underrated star get applause from Angel ReeseAll postseason long, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu have been the stars of several games.
While Napheesa Collier began the Finals on a strong note for Minnesota, it was New York’s win in the end.
But surprisingly, last night, it was more Jonquel Jones and German star Nyara Sabally whose names the audiences chanted.
Jones was named the Finals MVP, and Angel Reese even grabbed a selfie with her afterward, offering her congratulations.
But she was even more impressed by Sabally, who came off the bench to put up 13 points, seven rebounds, and a block.
When the game tipped into overtime, she made a decisive layup and delivered a clutch performance for the ages.
