Madhu Chopra opens up about experiencing the dark side after Priyanka Chopra entered the film industry, “We saw the dirt”

Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu Chopra recently opened up about realising the dark side of the industry after PeeCee entered the Indian film industry.

Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu Chopra recently spoke about the struggles the actress and her family faced in the initial days of her entering the film industry. The Miss World 2000 has etched her name as one of the leading ladies in the industry. After making a successful mark in Bollywood, she set foot in Hollywood and made an international appeal. After winning the prestigious Miss World title in 2000 at just 18 years old, PeeCee made her acting debut with the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan, and the rest is history.

Priyanka Chopra has achieved a dreamy career but her journey has never been smooth. Recently, her mother Madhu Chopra opened up about her journey.

Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra, during a chat with Breaking Stereotypes, spoke about the challenges PeeCee faced during her initial days when entering the Indian film industry. Madhu said, “We came from another industry and the film industry was new to us and we had stars in our eyes. I didn’t think it was a hellhole or such negative things didn’t come to our head. But when we came in, then we saw the dirt in it and the bad part.”

She further added, “Thodi bohot takleef to hoti thi starting mein (It was a little troubling in the beginning), then Priyanka sat us (Madhu and her late husband Ashok Chopra) down and told us ‘Mom, you know me best. So why believe all rubbish’. After that everything became alright.”

Priyanka Chopra’s career

After making her film debut in the Tamil film Thamizhan in 2002, made her Bollywood debut with the film The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. Priyanka Chopra later featured in major Bollywood hits such as Aitraaz, Fashion, Dostana, Don, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, among many others. Interestingly, the actress came from a medical background yet accomplished a successful journey to stardom.

Priyanka has also received several awards for her acting including a National Film Award for her role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s 2008 film Fashion along with several Filmfare and IIFA Awards.
