Snoop Dogg Brings Back Iconic 1993 Wheelchair Performance of ‘Murder Was the Case’

Snoop Dogg has used a recent live performance to hearken back to one of the most iconic moments of his career: the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards.

Tha Doggfather opened his recent appearance on Noochie’s Live From the Front Porch with “Murder Was the Case.” He began the performance in a wheelchair, only to stand up halfway through the song’s second verse. This was a nod to his 1993 VMA performance of the track, where he did the exact same thing.

In addition to being a great live rendition of the song, the ’93 version became famous because detectives were actually at the ceremony, waiting to arrest Snoop for murder. He ended his performance by saying, “I’m innocent,” dodged the detectives, and turned himself in later that night.

Snoop was found not guilty of the charge in 1996. Just last year, the record was sealed.

Check out the original performance and the 2025 homage (which begins the Live From the Front Porch set) below.

In other Snoop news, he recently became a grandfather for the eighth time after his daughter Cori Broadus gave birth to her first child, three months ahead of her due date. Twenty five-year-old Cori announced that she had given birth on Instagram on February 28, writing: “The princess arrived at 6 months,” alongside a picture of the newborn’s foot.

She added: “I’ve cried and cried, I’ve compared and compared, blaming myself because I wasn’t able to give her all that she needed. But no matter what God always shows me that He got me!

“Baby girl came at 25 weeks today and she’s the best!! Thank You God for getting me this far.”

Cori also revealed that her newborn was in a neonatal intensive care unit after being birthed via c-section. Her pregnancy had become high-risk after Cori, who already lives with lupus, was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, HELLP syndrome is a pregnancy complication that affects the liver and blood system and can result in death if not treated.

Cori previously revealed that Snoop Dogg was hoping for her to have a boy.

“My mom and dad were so excited, their 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 girl is having a 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢. My dad was hoping for a grandson, though,” she told E! News last year.
