Sauce Walka Caught in Memphis Hotel Shooting – One Dead!

Authorities believe rapper Sauce Walka was the target of a deadly double shooting outside a Memphis hotel. The Houston-born rapper, 34, and another man were shot near the FedEx Forum around 2:42 p.m. on Saturday.

Sauce Walka suffered a gunshot wound to the leg but is expected to recover, his family told TMZ. Memphis police held a press conference late Saturday night, confirming that CSI investigators determined the rapper and the second victim were specifically targeted, per the outlet.

According to authorities, multiple suspects arrived in a white four-door vehicle, pulled up to the victims—who were standing outside a car—and opened fire without exchanging any words. The suspects fled the scene, and police do not believe the attack was random.

The second victim, who has not yet been identified, died from his injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate. The man who was reportedly shopping with Sauce Walka was pronounced dead at the scene, the Memphis Police Department told FOX13. Local police said the incident was a targeted drive-by shooting, per the outlet, but have not yet confirmed the victims’ identities.

According to the outlet, police officers have identified the car in the drive-by shooting and an investigation is underway.  After confirming the incident was not a random act of violence, the police said they are working to make an arrest.  Many unconfirmed reports claim that Sayso P was the man who was fatally shot in the attack in broad daylight. The musical artist is signed to Sauce Walka’s independent record label The Sauce Factory.  Sauce Walka began rapping in 2007 under the stage name A-Walk, according to Genius.  He was also a member of a rap group called Mostheadgiver before he started releasing solo mixtapes under his current moniker in 2014.

After confirming the incident was not a random act of violence, the police said they are working to make an arrest  The following year, he released a diss track titled Wack 2 Wack, accusing Drake of appropriating Houston’s slang and hip-hop culture.  According to Apple Music, he is the son of professional wrestler Al Rage Walker.

He claimed to have turned down a multimillion-dollar offer from Jay-Z and Roc Nation in order to remain an indie rap artist.  The rapper is also an entrepreneur who has a wide variety of business ventures including a boxing gym, a retail gym and real estate.
