Before the much anticipated comeback of the show, The Boys has been officially confirmed for season 5. Season 4 of the popular Eric Kripke-created series on Prime Video was renewed in June 2022. It is based on the comic book written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show’s comeback was postponed in support of the writers strike, even though production had concluded in April 2023. However, the superhero parody series has been heavily marketing its upcoming fourth installment since the strikes have ended.
It has now been officially confirmed that season 5 will air on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service during the company’s first upfront event.

The announcement, which features Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, comes ahead of the June 13 premiere of The Boys season 4.
Could The Boys Season 4 Be Setting Up The Show’s Endgame?
The Boys Is Entering Campaign Mode
There have been hints and signs that Homelander (Antony Starr) could be running for office in The Boys season 4. A potential political consultant seems to be advising Homelander in the first full trailer. The adviser tells him how useful it is to divide people, allowing them to fight among themselves and then swooping in for the rescue. The start of the trailer also previews the presidential campaign of Robert Singer (Jim Beaver) and Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), which was previewed in The Boys season 3 finale and continued in the Gen V spinoff.
Homelander’s son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), who is upgraded as a main cast member after being a recurring character, also factors heavily in the upcoming season. Ryan could be aligned with his father, as he smiles when he sees that his father has 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed a protestor in the season 3 finale, which sets up a further divide between Homelander and Butcher (Karl Urban). Butcher does have his own problems to contend with, however, as he has an illness that doesn’t give him much longer to live.
The Boys season 4 will welcome new faces and supes, including Firecracker (Valorie Curry) and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward). That’s in addition to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who worked with showrunner Eric Kripke on Supernatural and looks to be playing Butcher’s partner in the fight against superpowered individuals. But even as it sets up new stories and brings in new characters, the political endgame, and Butcher’s newfound urgency could be pointing to the show’s eventual conclusion.
