And Priyanka Chopra has admitted that she didn’t expect to marry husband Nick Jonas as she judged a ‘book by its cover’ before getting to know him.

The Baywatch star, 36, revealed she had known the Jealous hitmaker, 26, for two years and was surprised ‘so much’ by him when they started dating.

Speaking at Tina Brown’s 10th Annual Women in the World Summit in New York on Thursday, Priyanka said: ‘I’ve known him for two years.

‘I didn’t think that this is what it [would’ve] turned out to be, and that’s maybe that’s my fault, I judged a book by its cover. When I actually started dating Nick, he surprised me so much.’

Priyanka went on to disclose one of the moments Nick surprised her, revealing they were on a night out when she needed to leave early for a prior commitment and dropped hints to see if her husband would ask her to cancel her meeting.

She added: ‘Finally he took me aside and he’s like, “Look, I’m not stupid. I know what you’re trying to do, but I will never be the one who will tell you to cancel work.

Married life: Speaking at Tina Brown’s 10th Annual Women in the World Summit in New York on Thursday, Priyanka said: ‘I’ve known him for two years. ‘I didn’t think that this is what it [would’ve] turned out to be!’

‘I know how hard you’ve worked to be where you are. So if you could’ve cancelled it, you would’ve done it. I’ll take our friends out for dinner, we’ll wait for you, and you finish your meeting and come back.”

‘He gave me credit for what I had done, it was just mind blowing for me.’

Priyanka and Nick got married in December at the Umaid Bhawan palace in Jodhpur, sealing their union with both Christian and Hindu ceremonies.

The couple had three wedding receptions, with one including a Bombay red carpet affair for her fellow Bollywood stars.

However, the actress went on to admit during her candid interview at the event, that they should have prepared their nuptials more after receiving the bill.

She continued: ‘I knew it was going to be three days because Indian weddings do have pre-rituals. Both of us wanted one wedding in each of our religions, so that was two days anyway.

‘It all happened so fast. We decided to prep this wedding in October, and we got married [on] the first of December.

‘We saw videos, and then the bill. And we were like, “Cool cool, maybe we should have prepared this a little bit more.”‘

Priyanka looked sensational for the event wearing a stylish wool skirt suit with peplum-style jacket which dipped below one shoulder for a 𝓈ℯ𝓍y touch.

The actress’ skirt, which had diamond buttons on it, hit just above the knee and featured a slit on the side to show more leg.

Completing the Bollywood star’s look was a pair of clear perspex heels and a silver handbag.
