Antony Starr may take on a superhero or villain role in the DCU after starring as Homelander in The Boys. The actor responded to rumors that he would be chosen to play Booster Gold in the DCU.
The actor and co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn began following each other on Instagram, which sparked a lot of recent rumors that Starr would be cast at Booster Gold. Fans were left wondering whether this suggested that Starr would have an unannounced part in a DCU initiative. Starr addressed the speculation that he had joined the DCU, potentially as Booster Gold, according to ComicBook.com. Although he claimed to be just Gunn’s golf buddy, Starr noticed his enthusiasm for everything the DCU has to offer.
“Me and James just play golf,” Starr, who said that Gunn is “amazing,” said of the speculation. “I cannot wait to see what he does with the DC Universe. I think he’s a phenomenal director, producer, talent. He’s one of the biggest brands in the industry, so I’m excited to see what he cooks up.”

While no cast members have yet been announced for the role, it’s known that Booster Gold is set to get his own series set in the DCU. The series is planned to be a part of the DCU’s first phase, joining the animated series Creature Commandos, the Green Lantern series Lanterns and the Wonder Woman series Paradise Lost, as well as the feature films Superman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Booster Gold was created by Dan Jurgens and first appeared in his own comic book series launched by DC in 1986. The character utilizes technology from the future to become a superhero in the past, hooked on the glory that it brings. Different live-action versions of Booster Gold have been featured in previous television shows, with Eric Martsolf playing him in Smallville while Donald Faison played another incarnation in Legends of Tomorrow.
