Timothee Chalamet holds hands with co-star Elle Fanning as they embrace on-screen romance while filming Bob Dylan drama A Complete Unknown.

Timothée Chalamet and his co-star, Elle Fanning, attempted to depict the softer side of Bob Dylan, who is known for his ageless cool aura from the 1960s, in a recent performance.

The 28-year-old Dune star and 26-year-old Neon Demon actress, who plays Dylan’s early ’60s girlfriend Suze Rotolo, were observed filming a scene in Hoboken, New Jersey, where they appeared to have an intimate talk while walking down the sidewalk and holding hands.

The scene came just a day after Timothée and Elle filmed one on the steps leading up to a brownstone while dressed in winter jackets, which mimicked the cover photo of his legendary 1963 second album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.

Timothée Chalamet, 28, and his costar Elle Fanning, 26, were dressed as a teenage Bob Dylan and his lover Suze Rotolo when they recorded a scene in Hoboken, New Jersey, on Wednesday for the biopic A Complete Unknown.

Timothée, who previously shot sequences on a motorcycle, wore a brown striped button-up shirt with rolled-up sleeves for the Wednesday session.

He slipped it into a pair of relaxed-fit jeans with a slim brown leather belt, and he wore a tough pair of dark brown cowboy boots with scuffed toes.

Timothée wore her dark hair in a fluffy curled hairdo akin to Dylan’s voluminous ’60s hair, albeit it was closer to the more reserved hairdos of 1962 or ’63 than the more voluminous hair Dylan had in ’65 and ’66 as he turned electric. Dylan was photographed in London in 1965.

Elle was dressed casually in a black tank top-style sweater that highlighted her thin arms.

She wore high-waisted dark blue trousers and sleek black shoes, and she was carrying a huge brown handbag made of heavily scuffed leather.

Her naturally blond hair was tinted a golden brown, and she styled it with a side part and somewhat wavy locks falling across her shoulders.

She held hands with Timothée and appeared to be conversing with him on camera while he clutched a modest coffee cup in his free hand.

The two appeared to be having a great time, as Elle scrunched her face up in amusement when Timothée muttered something humorous on camera.

A Complete Unknown, directed and co-written by Logan and Ford V. Ferrari filmmaker James Mangold, follows Dylan’s relocation to New York City in 1961 to become a folk musician.

The film tracks his astonishing artistic progress in the first half of the decade, which saw him transition from protest songs and folk standards to joining a band and ‘becoming electric.’

The move was controversial at the time, and Dylan angered many fans of his more introspective folk music with the turn toward rock, though he would go on to record some of the greatest albums of the decade in short succession after the transition.

Elle was also seen on her own in another scene filmed on Wednesday in which she wore a new costume.

She had on a muted gray, black and brown striped button-up blouse tucked into a black midi skirt, and she paired it with black stockings and modest black heels.

She covered up with a brown-and-beige floral-print tweed jacket, and she carried a green coat on her arm while grasping gray and green suitcases.

Elle wore a striped blouse and a brown floral tweed jacket while carrying suitcases in another scene. It may have been related to Rotolo’s six-month trip to Italy with her mother in 1962. Amid his loneliness back home, Dylan wrote some of his most enduring ballads

Their attire in that scenario mimicked the cover of Dylan’s seminal 1963 sophomore album, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. The cover showed Rotolo holding his arm and leaning against him as they walked down a snow-covered New York City street.

The scene could have been a reference to Suze Rotolo’s 1962 journey to Italy with her mother, which she subsequently reported Dylan had been extended to six months away from home.

During their time apart, the musician wrote some of his best early love songs, the majority of which have featured in his set lists for decades, including Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright; One Too Many Mornings; Tomorrow Is A Long Time; and Boots Of Spanish Leather.

Rotolo’s Marxist background is claimed to have affected Dylan’s political awakening in the early 1960s, and he has credited her with sparking his interest in the French poet Arthur Rimbaud and the dramatist Bertolt Brecht, both of whom he credits with inspiring his music.

The release date for Jay Cocks’ co-written film A Complete Unknown has yet to be determined.
