Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Might Be Declining an Australia Visit for This Royal Reason

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle enjoyed such a successful goodwill trip to Nigeria earlier this year that are reportedly entertaining other invitations around the globe to promote the Invictus Games. However, there seems to be one location that they are specifically avoiding to dodge any royal issues.

Sky News Australia royal correspondent Louise Roberts believes the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es are ready for a “world tour,” but the dynamic duo would be “unable to travel to Australia” because King Charles III and Queen Camilla have a tour coming up in October. “They can’t go where Charles and Camilla will go – they can’t go to Australia,” she claimed, via The Mirror.

That sounds like a solid plan because Harry and Meghan probably don’t want to ruffle the royals, they’ve already had a tough year with Charles and Kate Middleton’s cancer battles. Yet the Duke and Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 will likely be strategic about their upcoming visits since the Nigeria trip went so well — they even won over their critics.

Tina Brown, author of The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor–the Truth and the Turmoil, hasn’t always been kind to the couple, but had nice things to say after the trip. “After all of the trashing of Harry this week… trying to blame him [for the rift],” she explained to the BBC. “When I saw him and Meghan in Nigeria, I had a nostalgia. I felt this is what it could have been. These two, who are enormously appealing to the public and who are very good at it, were out there in Nigeria sort of looking really attractive and being appealing people.”

PR expert Nick Ede told the Daily Mail that he believes that Harry and Meghan will expand their brand in a different way than the royal family through the Invictus Games. “They will be wanting to be careful to not reflect on the past but to look at a clear future with a path towards building them away from ridicule and building themselves as humanitarians, producers, and campaigners,” he explained.

So, Australia might be off the list, but other countries, including Malta and Ghana, are reportedly lining up to host Meghan and Harry. As long as the Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍es keep their visits looking more casual than a formal royal tour, they can solidly continue their philanthropic work and not step on King Charles and Queen Camilla’s toes.
