Anthony Joshua Set To Break Tyson Fury’s Record

Two-time former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) is all set to face Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) for the IBF heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium later this year. Wembley Stadium’s capacity was previously increased from 90,000 to 94,000 to accommodate the numbers when Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) fought Dillian Whyte (30-3, 20 KOs) in 2022. As the fight date inches closer, promoter Frank Warren is confident that Joshua will break Fury’s ticket sale record.

“Oh, it’s massive. I mean, we will be applying to increase the capacity like we did last time when Tyson Fury fought against Dillian Whyte, and I think we’ve got it. I think we will probably break that record. So, it’s really looking good,”Warren said in an interview with TalkSPORT.

Joshua’s previous two fights took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and his upcoming showdown against Dubois will mark his return to British soil. Joshua is no stranger to fully sold-out stadium fights. His fight against Wladimir Klitschko (64-5, 53 KOs) brought in 90,000 boxing aficionados. In fact, his promoter, Eddie Hearn, also believes that Joshua vs Dubois might sell 100,000 tickets.

While Warren agrees that Dubois isn’t as big a name as Klitschko, he remained confident in the fighters’ ability to draw crowds and Dubois’ s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁set as a boxer. “A lot of people are making AJ a favorite, and they’re saying AJ is a big puncher and so forth, and I hope he comes out and comes to fight because if he lets those big punches go, I know that will leave him exposed,” he said. “If Daniel clips him, it will knock him out. I think Daniel is the bigger puncher.”

“Daniel Knocks Him Out”

Dubois’ former opponent, Joe Joyce (16-2, 15 KOs), praised Joshua’s journey. However, talking to Queensberry Promotions, Joyce revealed that he hoped that Dubois would knock out Joshua.

“Let’s hope Daniel knocks him out, and then I get to fight him, the end. Get the rematch, beat Daniel again, and get the title. Yeah, I think he can do it. He hits hard; If Joshua’s susceptible. They can both bang. May the best man win,” he said.
