Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ Returns To No. 1 After Breaking Another Drake Record

Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us” has returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and, adding insult to injury, has broken another Drake record in the process.

Spurred on by the release of the song’s music video on Independence Day, “Not Like Us” has climbed back to the top of this week’s chart after previously reaching the summit nine weeks ago at the height of Kendrick’s feud with Drake.

Since debuting atop the Billboard Hot 100, “Not Like Us” has not dropped below sixth place on the chart and also marks Kendrick’s first number one to spend multiple weeks at the top of the chart without a feature.

In once again being the most streamed song in the U.S. over the last week, “Not Like Us” has now reached 500 million streams on Spotify, according to Chart Data.

It achieved the feat in just 70 days, becoming the fastest rap song to do so — eclipsing Drake’s previous record with 2018’s “God’s Plan.”

The track also has nearly 400 million more streams than Drizzy’s “Push Ups” diss song.

Kendrick’s widely perceived victory has also been underscored on YouTube. Last week, the Compton rapper’s “Not Like Us” video surpassed 40 million views on the platform after just six days of release, quickly surpassing the 35 million views that Drake’s “Family Matters” video amassed in two months.

The success of “Not Like Us” and its accompanying video have also had a positive impact on other businesses.

The visual prominently features Compton-based restaurant Tam’s Burgers, with Kendrick and producer Mustard being seen both inside and outside the burger spot.

Since the release of the video, the restuarant has reported that business is up 30 to 40 percent.

Having known Kendrick since he was a teen, the owners didn’t charge for the filming and instead just worked out a deal to have their logo be prominent in the clip.

The owners have also offered K. Dot a lifetime’s supply of free meals as a token of their apprecation.
