Priyanka Chopra revealed during a podcast interview Thursday that her supportive husband Nick Jonas believes she’ll be the first in the family to win an Oscar.

The 38-year-old Indian actress admitted at the start of Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast that everyone was still getting used to hearing ‘Jonas’ at the end of her last name.

‘It’s hard, you know. It’s an addition to an identity that I’ve had for 35-something years,’ she said.

Priyanka and Nick, 28, have been married since 2018.

The actress was promoting her new movie The White Tiger that was released last week on Netflix.

Priyanka stars in the drama and also is one of the executive producers.

The White Tiger is based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Aravind Adiga, 46, that won the 2008 Man Booker Prize.

She discussed her character Pinky in the film as someone ‘who sees humanity’ amid class stratification in India and said she was proud to play the character.

Priyanka also talked about future projects.

‘I’m really looking for a trajectory where I have the ability to play various characters and various genres and just various people, various personalities and not really be bogged down or put into a box or a stereotype of what I can do,’ Priyanka said.

‘And that was what my career in India was, I’ve played various characters and I’ve really done a lot of immersive parts and I’m really looking for that now,’ Priyanka said.

Only three Indian actors have been nominated for acting Oscars in 92 years and Priyanka discussed the challenge of Indian actors working in Hollywood.

Priyanka said her singer-actor husband Nick ‘doesn’t do anything badly’, but also completely supports her.

He was like, ”You may be the first Jonas to win an Oscar”,’ Priyanka said.

Priyanka also can be seen in the upcoming sequel Matrix 4 due out in December.
