Drake speaks out in defense of Kendrick Lamar amid DJ Akademiks’ fierce backlash for hating the song “Not Like Us.”

DJ Akademiks’ joy at the drop in streaming momentum for Kendrick Lamar’s breakthrough smash, “Not Like Us,” caused social media to explode. To the obvious joy of Akademiks, the once-dominant single is currently losing traction. The song rose to the top of the Billboard charts and became widely recognized during the height of Kendrick Lamar’s feud with Drake.

At the height of Lamar and Drake’s animosity, “Not Like Us” was unstoppable. It was a monumental moment in hip-hop history, dominating streaming platforms, enthralling Hollywood, and garnering attention from mainstream media outlets. But as fervent Drake fan Akademiks was only too glad to point out, the hit single’s reign has dimmed four months after its initial release.

“The biggest moment of Kendrick’s career is now fading away. Looks like he needs to diss Drake again to save his career,” Akademiks quipped to his five million Instagram followers, sparking outrage among Kendrick’s loyal fanbase.

Fans were quick to clap back at Akademiks for his comments, accusing him of being biased towards Drake. “It’s funny how this whole entire time Kendrick never said NOTHING [laughing emoji] the n—a did his thing then skated, nor did anybody from his team say anything [laughing emoji] but Drake fans just won’t let it go, this is called proof of a loss,” one user wrote.

Another Instagram user commented, “He did what he wanted; those songs were a moment, he’s gone now till he’s back. What they were supposed to be #1 for the rest of the year? Come on… we know how it’s gonna go. But it’s running down y’all chins B d—-t.”

A third follower observed: “Remember 1 month ago AK was salty and saying that Kendrick fans need to ‘Let It Go’… now look, AK is STILL using this battle for views and engagement… without this topic AK’s page will drop down in views and engagement.”

The backlash didn’t stop there. Fans continued to bombard Akademiks with criticism, with many comments being too explicit for public consumption.

Despite his evident bias towards Drake, Akademiks, whose real name is Livingston Allen, ultimately had to acknowledge that Kendrick Lamar outperformed Drake in this clash of hip-hop giants, dismantling his adversary with surgical precision.

The online uproar reflects the ongoing tension between fans of the two rap titans, with Akademiks’ comments only adding fuel to the fire. As the debate rages on, one thing remains clear: Kendrick Lamar’s impact on the music industry is far from fading, despite what some may wish to believe.
