Blake Lively has revealed the one rule she and her husband Ryan Reynolds always follow to keep the spark alive in their marriage.

The 36-year-old mom-of-four and the 47-year-old Deadpool actor – who have been married for 12 years – are no strangers to the limelight, however, they have made it very clear that they won’t let the glitz and glam that comes with life in the fast lane affect their love life.

Despite their busy schedules as Hollywood stars, the couple has shared that they never book gigs at the same time – adding that it makes their marriage stronger.

Blake noted that the lovebirds first made the rule to prioritize their personal life when they first got together, over a decade ago, and have been swearing by it ever since.

She said:  ‘When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time so that we could always prioritize our personal life.’

The actress explained that at times, it’s been difficult for her and Ryan to stick to their rule – especially when they first got together and she was filming constantly.

‘I’m used to working hard and going and going and going and going and not stopping. Especially, Gossip Girl was six years of my life, and we were sometimes shooting three episodes at once,’ she added.

In 2019, while speaking to People, Ryan further clarified their rule.

He explained: ‘Blake and I don’t do movies at the same time. If she is doing a movie in Thailand and I am doing a movie in Vancouver we would just never see each other. We operate as a unit, and that works really well for us.

‘The kids stay with us, and the family stays together, and that is where home is. So if we are in Spain or Utah or New York, as long as we are together, we’re home.’

And prioritizing their love life seems to be working for the couple who have four children and frequently gush about their lives while referring to their home as a ‘zoo.’

The actor actor has previously explained that he thinks parents are ‘much better equipped’ to handle their kids these days.

He told People: ‘I think it’s more about talking to them about everything. It’s genuine when I say I take a huge interest in their days and how things are going.

‘I think as parents, we are so much better equipped to handle the rigors of childhood through our kids now than when I was a kid

‘It’s just totally different now. People are much more self-aware. And that’s the thing we sort of hang our hat on the most is self-awareness with our kids. Not be happy, not be anything, just be self-aware and welcome everything in.’

Ryan – who was previously married to Scarlett Johansson from 2008 to 2011 – went on to add that the whole family is ‘doing great’ after welcoming their fourth child and joked that the whole house is a ‘zoo’ but admitted that he and his wife wouldn’t have had four children if they ‘didn’t love’ being parents.

He said: Look, we wouldn’t do this four times if we didn’t love it. ‘We’re very excited. Everybody’s doing great.

The actress stood in front of a TV with Ryan’s Deadpool trailer playing in the background – as well as a Super Bowl Kansas City Chiefs Champs baseball cap on the ledge.

Blake beamed in the snap, writing ‘Honey I’m home. My day was good. Yours?’

Her hilarious post came after Ryan joked that he was home alone and was wondering if anyone saw his wife.

Ryan was home alone on Sunday as his wife supported close friend Taylor at the Super Bowl – fortunately, he was able to see the funny side.

The actor was absent from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where wife Blake joined Taylor and an array of celebrity friends on a night of victory for Kansas City Chiefs.

The team, featuring Taylor’s tight end boyfriend Travis Kelce, claimed their third Super Bowl Championship title in five years after beating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22, leaving pop star Swift, best friend Lively and millions of fans in raptures.
