In the third season premiere of Erik Kripke’s The Boys, a gigantic p*nis set erupted, daring the program to go where no one has gone before.
Erik Kripe’s The Boys received divisive reviews in its fourth and penultimate season. Despite having its signature gory sequences, with more Homelander shenanigans and exploding farm animals, the fourth season was largely considered to be a downgrade from its predecessors.
There were several insane scenes throughout the season, but the show’s boldest moment has to go to one scenario from season 3. In the aforementioned episode, the superhero Termite gives a lover a 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual pleasure from inside his urethra. To film the scene, the crew apparently had to construct an 11-foot p*nis set.

One thing that sets The Boys apart from other superhero shows is the writers’ commitment to go in the most bizarre directions. While blood and gore are a staple of the show, each season seems to amp up how it is portrayed and up the stakes. However, no one could imagine what the crew would have to deal with in season 3.
In the premiere episode of the third season, a superhero named Termite, who can shrink himself, is seen pleasuring his partner by going into his urethra. However, Termite sneezes, causing him to enlarge and explode from within his partner’s body. The harrowing yet hilarious scene happens within the first fifteen minutes of the premiere.

Creator Erik Kripke mentioned that they came up with the idea while they were riffing in the writer’s room and that they shot the scene by building a real 11-foot p*nis set. He said to Variety,
“Even though it was very much sweetened by the effects, that is a practical penis. That is an 11-foot high, 20-foot long p*nis head that has a urethra, a tunnel in it, and built at great expense. We got Sony and Amazon to pay so much money to build this set. And it’s just another reason why I love my job.”
Karl Urban apparently decided not to attend the set after reading the scripted sequence, despite Kimiko’s actress Karen Fukuhara calling the set a cartoon.
The Termite Scene In The Boys Was A Parody Of Ant-Man

Among other things, The Boys is primarily a spoof and a commentary on the commodification of superheroes. With the dawn of the MCU, the superhero and shared universe genre became the most popular genre of films in Hollywood, with every studio running to create a shared universe with their IPs.
The Termite was a spoof of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, according to his creator Erik Kripke, and it was based on the well-known meme that went viral before to Avengers: Endgame, “Ant-Man goes up Thanos’ b*tt and enlarges himself.” They had to rework the scene because they had previously completed a b*tt explosion sequence, the writer revealed to Variety. He declared,
“Someone says, ‘We haven’t done Ant-Man.’ And then someone else says, ‘There’s that meme of Ant-Man climbing up Thanos’ b*tt and blowing him up. So we should do that. We should give the audience the thing that Marvel can’t give to them.’”
Kripke mentioned that the writer’s room kept building on each others’ ideas and ultimately went ahead with the scene fans can watch now.
