Erin Moriarty (The Boys) Takes a Stand: ‘Horrified’ by Surgery Accusations, Partners Back Her Up!

Accused by an American host of having undergone extreme cosmetic surgery, Erin Moriarty, the star of The Boys, firmly responded on Instagram. “Horrified” and shocked, the actress made a radical decision.

Cosmetic surgery is the norm in Hollywood, but not all actors subscribe to it! While Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie) has admitted to having had procedures, others must justify and prove that they have never altered their faces or bodies. This was the case for Jennifer Lawrence and, more recently, Erin Moriarty, who plays the superhero Starlight in the irreverent series The Boys available on Prime Video. The actress was accused by Megyn Kelly, former Fox News host, of having undergone extreme cosmetic surgery. These comments, made during an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, deeply hurt the actress and sparked fierce criticism from The Boys fans.

“A face generated by artificial intelligence”: The accusations from a host against actress Erin Moriarty

In her podcast, Megyn Kelly labeled cosmetic surgery a “social disease.” She accused Erin Moriarty of being an example of “addiction” to facial enhancements. “More and more young women are doing it,” she said. “This is not an objection to cosmetic surgery, but an obsession with transforming into this false version of oneself… I think it’s a sign of mental illness. I really want to get into the minds of these young girls and tell them: ‘Please, don’t do this.'” The former Fox News host then displayed an image, which she claimed was “relatively recent,” of the The Boys star, whom she described as “beautiful, kind, and natural,” before expressing her shock at seeing an even more recent photo of the actress. “I thought it was an artificially generated face… but apparently, it’s real. She did this to herself,” she added.

Erin Moriarty responds firmly to Megyn Kelly’s accusations

Shocked by these remarks, Erin Moriarty decided to withdraw from social media. But before doing so, she wrote a lengthy message on her Instagram account: “We all face levels of bullying throughout our lives, but I am horrified and felt I deserved to take a moment to talk about these things… Receiving a message about false and disgusting information, but also so counterproductive that Megyn Kelly is ironically misogynistic in her video left me horrified.” The actress also stated that the “before” photo Megyn Kelly showed was actually a much older picture. The latter “used as an example a photo taken ‘a year ago,’ which, according to her, was actually taken about a decade ago, before I was of legal drinking age (I’m about to turn 30) (do a little research, it will take you 30 seconds),” the actress wrote. She then added that the so-called “after” photo that Kelly presented as proof of her having had cosmetic surgery dated back to a time when she “had been made up that day, which involved significant contouring, and I remember leaving feeling beautiful.” Erin Moriarty has since deleted the photo in question from Instagram.

Erin Moriarty says her “heart is broken” and receives support from some stars of The Boys

“It’s becoming harassment and false information,” Erin Moriarty continued. The The Boys actress stated that she kept her Instagram account active only so others could read her statement, but “otherwise, consider it disabled.” The actress is “horrified by the reaction, the reductive assumptions, and the aforementioned video, which is a prime example of such harassment. It broke my heart. You broke my heart. Shame on you, Megyn Kelly.” The star received support from some of her The Boys co-stars in the comments of her post. “I love you, Erin. Screw the haters,” wrote Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell). As for Chace Crawford (The Deep), he posted a red heart emoji, just like Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who joined the series for its fourth season.
