Jensen Ackles’ Surprising Admission: Retirement from ‘The Boys’ Has Left Him Hungry for Bigger Roles!

After starring in The Boys on Prime Video, Jensen Ackles is eager to take on new ventures. However, that makes sense because the show will end in Season 5, which means the actor won’t have a job. He is confirmed to return for Tracker Season 2, so he doesn’t need to worry.

Because of his time as Dean Winchester on Supernatural, Ackles is well known. Fans claim that he has spent a lot of time on television and that the platform is now his domain.

Jensen Ackles is Officially Back for Tracker Season Two

Fans of CBS’ Tracker have good news: Jensen Ackles will reprise his role as Russell Shaw, albeit with greater screen time. Since he barely made a cameo appearance in the first season, fans are eagerly awaiting the next episode.

Actor and executive producer Justin Hartley declared via People that they had him back during the Summer Television Critics Association 2024 Press Tour, saying, “He’s coming back.” With it, we’re having fun. It’s an amazing tale. How many episodes starring Ackles would remain a secret.

On the other hand, showrunner Elwood Reid remarked that the actor is always just one call away.

“It’s like family: when we text him [he says], ‘Tell me where and tell me when,’ and he shows up. He’s just that kind of guy.”

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Hartley revealed how he convinced Ackles to appear in the film. They never get to collaborate even though it is evident that they have been friends for a very long time.

“I try to give the people what they want. You know what I mean? And Jensen and I have been friends for so long, and we never got a chance to work together because the man is so damn busy. And then we’re always working in different places.”

He believed it would be a great opportunity to make the collaboration happen. He thought of casting Ackles for the role of Colter Shaw’s brother. “I thought, ‘Man, that’s kind of a special role. I think maybe I’ll make a phone call,’” mused Hartley.

Jensen Ackles May Possibly Have A Larger Role In Tracker

Jensen Ackles is undoubtedly a busy bee with the numerous projects he has on his plate. He made appearances in fifteen of Supernatural’s seasons, which aired from 2005 to 2020. Following that, the actor starred as Soldier Boy in Season 3 of The Boys.

Ackles had a brief cameo in the premiere of Tracker earlier this year, but the producer promised that he will appear in more episodes.

If the plot allows it, Russell Shaw might end up being a main figure in Tracker as Season 5 of The Boys draws to a close. There are countless options, and since Hartley and Ackles already had similar schedules, they would undoubtedly want to collaborate more.
