Saudi Boxing Boss Ends Rumors: Joshua-Dubois Rematch Date Announced!

With a scheduled fight date, Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh puts a stop to rumors of a rematch between Antony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. The possible IBF judgment cast uncertainty on the rematch schedule.

The suggested date for the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois has been made public. Last month, Dubois, 27, shocked AJ at Wembley.

Following their bout at Wembley in September, Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua are scheduled to rematch in 2025.

In the fifth round, the Watford guy was decisively defeated by his monstrous right hand. He was able to maintain his IBF world title as a result, and Joshua’s hopes of a huge spring fight with Tyson Fury were dashed.

However, it appears that AJ will have another opportunity for retribution next year when the all-British altercation takes place. Additionally, Turki Alalshikh, the head of Saudi boxing, advised supporters to put the date on their calendars for the rematch.

He revealed at the controversial Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol fight night that the plan is for Joshua vs Dubois 2 to take place on February 22, 2025. The date is only tentatively pencilled in at this stage. The other thing yet to be decided is the location.

Wembley hosted the initial bout but many expect the second edition to be held in the Saudi desert. Four of AJ’s 32 fights have been in Saudi Arabia – including his rematches with Andy Ruiz Jr and Oleksandr Usyk. Dubois, meanwhile, beat both Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

When previously discussing the Joshua vs Dubois rematch, AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn said: “I think it would be part of Riyadh Season in Riyadh. Riyadh Season runs from October to end of February, early March.

“So anything within that period takes place in Riyadh. So yeah, it would be part of Riyadh Season if it were to happen.”

After the IBF ordered a bout between Agit Kabayel and Martin Bakole to determine who would be Dubois’ heavyweight challenger, there was a hint that the rematch would be postponed. The fight may even happen before the year is over, since the fighters were instructed this week to indicate their availability in the next few days.

It appears, though, that the IBF could approve the AJ-Dubois rematch before directing Dubois to take on his required opponent. Knowing that he might fight for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion the following year, Dynamite Dan will be closely watching the Usyk vs. Fury rematch in December.

Dubois secured a fifth-round knockout to keep hold of the IBF belt.

Turki Alalshikh will want to host the rematch in Saudi Arabia
